The 1992 Whoopi Goldberg classic film is brought to life at the Fabulous Fox Theatre with performances on Friday and two on Saturday and Sunday. The play tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, who witnesses a crime and is hidden by police in a convent. While in hiding, Deloris helps her sisters unexpectedly find their voices through pop music. Tickets are going from $25 to $80. St. Louis Holiday Magic
Friday, Nov. 29-Sunday, Dec. 1
Over the last five years, Holiday Magic has grown into a favorite tradition for families across St. Louis. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 to 6 Saturday and noon to 5 Sunday at America’s Center convention complex, there will be 10 full scale carnival rides, a trackless train circling the show, performances by the Purina Incredible Dog Team, live music, shopping, pony rides and much more. Tenth Life’s Third Annual Hissin’ Hustle 5K Run and Catwalk

Thanksgiving Day runs are a favorite tradition of many families, but you should check out this race two days later at Tower Grove Park (4256 Magnolia Ave.) because it’s a cause worth supporting. Tenth Life Cat Rescue is dedicated to saving neglected, abused or abandoned cats. So when you pay your registration fee, you’ll know you’re making a difference. For $30, you’ll also get a long-sleeve cotton T-shirt or a short-sleeve T for $20. The fees are $20 and $15 for the Catwalk. St. Charles Christmas Traditions Festival

If you want a unique, old-fashioned holiday experience, it’s tough to beat downtown St. Charles. Take a stroll down Main Street and listen to music from the Victorian Carolers and the fife and drum corps. As you visit the various stores the street will be filled with over 30 characters playing Christmas legends and Santas from around the world. Each actor will be adorned in handcrafted clothing representing their heritage and handing out trading cards to visitors as keepsakes.
