The Harlem Globetrotters
Friday, January 3
Basketball, comedy and theater, the Globetrotters have pretty much mastered all three and bring their traveling show to Scottrade Center Friday night with their Fans Rule World Tour. No doubt you’ll see the Globetrotters’ usual array of trick shots and wacky antics, but the tour also implements three new rules into the game: players get double points when they score while wearing a “Hot Hand Jersey,” five points are earned or given to the opposing team for making or missing a trick shot and teams get an extra player for making a shot but lose one when they miss. The game starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are going for $21 to $138. http://www.scottradecenter.com/events-tickets/2014/harlem-globetrotters14.html

West Side Story
Friday, January 3-Sunday, January 5
The classic musical and love story comes to the Fabulous Fox Theatre for four shows that are sure to thrill audiences. The story is set in 1950s New York City and explores the rivalry between two teenage street gangs — the Jets and the Sharks.  The Broadway cast recently won the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. The Bernstein and Sondheim score features classics like “Something’s Coming,” “Tonight,” “America” and “I Feel Pretty and Somewhere.” Shows play at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets range from $30 to $75. http://www.fabulousfox.com/shows_page_multi.aspx?usID=368

Asbury Park at Highway 61 Roadhouse & Kitchen
Friday, January 3
Asbury Park, a six-piece Bruce Springsteen cover band, plays just one show a year so this is your only chance to catch them at Highway 61 Roadhouse & Kitchen in Webster Groves (34 S. Old Orchard Ave). The band covers songs from throughout the Boss’ career, including hits from the E Street Band era to his most recent work from albums like “The Rising.” The performance will run from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. and there’s a $5 cover. http://www.hwy61roadhouse.com/music.php

Saint Louis University vs. Yale
Saturday, January 4
Perpetually under the radar, the Billikens men’s basketball team is once again off to a fantastic start with 12 wins in its first 14 games. The squad seems ready to make a push for another conference championship and third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. They’ll host Yale at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Chaifetz Arena. Ticket prices range from $12 to $40. http://thechaifetzarena.com/event_65

St. Louis Blues vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
Saturday, January 4
The Blues remain one of the hottest teams in the NHL having won three straight games going into Thursday night’s contest with the Los Angeles Kings. They’re quickly becoming one of the season’s hottest stories and excitement is picking up around St. Louis. They’ll look to sustain that momentum Saturday against the visiting Blue Jackets. The puck will be dropped at 7 p.m. and plenty of tickets remain. http://www.ticketmaster.com/st-louis-blues-vs-columbus-blue-st-louis-missouri-01-04-2014/event/06004B14AB5B7F21?artistid=806025&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=9&camefrom=CFC_NHLBLUES&brand=blues
