Remember Beverly Carter and promote Realtor safety

Last week was a tragic one in the Realtor community as we learned that Beverly Carter, a Realtor who disappeared after meeting a supposed prospective buyer in rural Arkansas, was found dead.

I'd encourage everyone to take some time to read about the person that Beverly Carter, 49,  was. She was a woman of faith. She was a grandmother who was looking forward to a visit from one of her grandchildren just hours before her death. She was a star in the industry and someone who was described as "the epitome of a Realtor."

Although nothing can erase this tragedy, we can help ensure that her death wasn't in vain by contributing to a conversation about how real estate agents can be safer on the job.

Below I've included links to several articles about Realtor safety tips. PLEASE read these and follow them. It's easy to take your safety for granted, but in this day and age it is very easy for a Realtor to find danger if they don't take the proper precautions. Meet in a public space. Let someone know where you are and when you expect to return. And if you ever notice anything suspicious, leave.

Having something like the Beverly Clark incident occur would be the worst thing that could ever happen to this company. Take care of yourself and be safe.

Rest in peace, Beverly.
